Located high in the beautiful Sierra Madre mountains of Southern Chihuahua state in Mexico is Samachique, home to the 120,000 Tarahumara Indians. The Assemblies of God of Mexico has 12 churches and 6 preaching points: the need for trained pastors and leaders is great. Home Missions Director of Mexico Cruz Valazquez told missionary Norman Knoodle he had been praying for a "Library Resource Center" for four years. In March of 2009 Cruz's prayers were answered as Norman and his wife Cheryl along with missionaries Nicky and Janie Rider and Peggy McDonald completed the resource center and placed books provided by First Assembly of God, Jefferson City, MO. Social work is also taking place by supplying shelter, food, care and biblical training for 230 children each week. Many of these children walk up to 3 hours from their homes to school. The Assemblies of God in Mexico has 2 dormitory locations which enable the children to stay close to the schools during the week and walk home for the weekend. The impact of these facilities upon the Tarahumara's is great. Listen to the videos and view the pictures to see the hand of God's love expressed through His called servants. |
